Where did I leave off?

Oh yeah, the Harley riders. I fell asleep writing the previous blog entry.

They were on a 'training run'. While i was putting on the cooling vest (which is molding, btw) and stich, some guy asked me why i wear 'that'. I pointed out that in the heat, it is cooler than nothing at all, as long as i am moving. Like sitting under a tree on a hot day is cooler than sitting out in the sun. Truth be told, i wear it because i believe cordura will protect my skin should i go down. But i didn't say that, because in reality, that is obvious, and anyone asking must be looking for an argument. Perhaps they are insecure in their choice of lack of riding gear. Who knows. Idiots.

So then we got on our iron horses and rode south on 3 to 36 to Fortuna. I am sure you are tired of reading about how good these roads are. 36 is great. In Red Bluff there is a sign proclaiming 'Sharp Corners 132 miles'. No kidding. We only rode about half that. The first part is nice and twisty, and lasted 40 miles or so. Then we had 20 miles of narrow windy roads, as the temp dropped from mid nineties to upper sixties.

Once we got to 101, we went north to Fortuna and found a campground walking distance from the Eel River brewpub. We we there for awesome smoked ribs and brews... A belgian brune, a triple, a porter and an imperial stout. All good... We stumbled back to our campsite and slept solidly.
