Northern California has some of the best roads in the country. They're not as tight and twisty as some of the roads in WV, TN or NC, but they go for long distances through awesome landscapes with nearly no traffic. Go to google maps, find Weaverville, hayfork, mad river, or happy camp. look at highway 96 from yreka to 299.. 299 to Redding. Hwy 36 from Red Bluff to Fortuna. Hwy 3 from Etna to Hayfork.
We woke up 18 miles west of etna, 43f and cold. We got up, decided not to go west over 14+ miles of destroyed road, and rode to Etna to get breakfast. We also found what appeared to be the entire town eating there too.
After breakfast we rode south on hwy 3 through weaverville to hwy 36. 3 is a wonderful road. It climbs into the mountains with continuous curves for many miles. In Hayfork we stopped for water and I wanted to hydrate my cooling vest, as it was getting up into the 90s. However, the vest was starting to mold! Although I had tried to dry it out for three days in Montana it would not entirely dry. In an attempt to halt the mildew process, i bought a box of baking powder and rehydrate with that.
While i was putting on the vest and the 'stitch over it, we met a group of riders from Sacramento. These were first time Harley owners, and were being led by
