Of traffic and Tolls

Chuck and I continued south on 101 into San Francisco, dreading sitting in traffic. We paid the $12 toll to cross the Golden Gate bridge and made a beeline for the coast.

The coast wasn't that interesting until Big Sur. That section is very very nice. 3000 ft cliffs and a windy road for many many miles. There was a lot of tourism traffic - especially an incompetent driver in a black toyota candy from Florida with plates 505 IUP. This jerk drove 30 miles at 20 mph in a 55 zone with no passing zones and lots of turnouts and signs indicating they should be used.

We also got to watch a couple elephant seals fight over thier cows - I have video of that ... they were belching (bet that would stink up close) then smack each other on the necks with their teeth. We watched two fights, and in each case the challenger slunk back into the ocean. No sex for you!

It was getting late and the sun was setting yet all the campgrounds we passed were full. It wasn't until we reached San Simion that we found a place, around eight pm. The only site available was near a stinky pit toilet... But it wasn't too bad.
