Over the mountains to Cody we go!

Although we roused early, it took us a while to get on the road. We had breakfast and i updated the blog for the previous day. Then it sprinkled and we managed to get the tents put away in record time. And then it stopped sprinkling. Figures.

We were planning to ride 14a all the way to Cody but we found out there is a lot of construction between cody and lovell, so we took 14 instead. As it climbs out of Sheridan the curves come consistently and steeply, with ample passing zones.

Up on the plateau there was some construction and temperatures were lower. The highlight of this mountain pass (other than the ascent) was the Shell falls overlook and the canyon.

On the western edge of the Bighorns 14 follows the Shell River in a very tight and scenic canyon. Although we're not finding the technical type of roads like out east, the scenery here is incredible.

Then we're back on the open land, hurtling towards Cody.
