Other Stuff we saw going back to Taipei

These are Dave and Yvonne's photos. This really shows the extend of the cemetaries... the mountainsides were full of them!

We found some creative back roads on the way home. They are very efficient with space here.

This is not a wedding. Here they take the photos when they get engaged. We saw quite a few of these.

Ok now this is the fun part. We were following the GPS trying to figure out how to get back to Taipei. That doesn't help when the GPS voice says "Turn left on shingshwaychow road" and shows a symbol we can't figure out, and these are the signs we see. So all we do is follow the GPS arrows. That leads us down the following street:

This is where I really have to commend Dave on his patience and driving skills. We slowly inch along, and realize, crap, this is a walking mall! But everyone takes it in stride ... for about 1/2 mile ... yes, a half mile ... people politely get out of our way. We joke that we should open the window and buy something. At one point Dave suggests we open the (tinted) windows so they can see we're just some dumb westerners. They are very tolerant about that here. I think that's a good idea, but none of us actually do it.

After several minutes we see a clearing ahead, and are relieved that we are almost through.

It was a dead end. So we pull an Austin Powers three-point-turn and go back through the crowd....

Well, we got through it, and at one point we saw a puppet theater on the street.

Dogs on Scooters? No problem!

Afterwards we went down to the wharf for ice cream, and Jenn explored the stairs leading down to the water. She didn't know that on the wall directly behind her ....

...were hundreds of roaches scurrying around! ewwwwwww!

And the last one for today ... did you really think I would leave you with roaches? No, instead I will leave you with a male soldier on a scooter wearing a "Hello Kitty" helmet.
